Greta Carrete VegaScientist
Greta is a data-hungry ecologist who uses her GIS skills to help others understand biodiversity better. Maps are her favourite form of data visualisation and she takes a meticulous approach towards data analysis and interpretation. Greta’s PhD and Masters studies gave her opportunities to work alongside conservation organisations, and it was these experiences that have motivated her to focus on improving the way we communicate ecological data. She’s well aware that we need to simplify complicated data if we want it to be used by businesses, governments, and individuals.
Greta’s always looking forward to a new discovery in the most unexpected place. Like running on a treadmill for the first time ever while on a ship in the Southern Ocean, or eating rice with jam for breakfast in the Amazon. She captures these adventures on film, giving us a glimpse of life beyond the cities we live, and the nature we must protect.
